Free. Rain or shine. All are welcome.

Discover the layered history of Upper Darby as we explore the evolution of Terminal Square from a rural landscape captured in Charles Willson Peale’s 1818 painting to a developed urban hub. Beginning at 69th Street Transportation Center, this walk delves into the architectural variety and cultural richness that define the area today. Through a tour of distinctive Art Deco buildings, mid-century modern storefronts, and the Stonehurst houses, we’ll observe how these structures have adapted to suit the needs of Upper Darby’s diverse communities. The tour’s ultimate destination is Sellers Hall, one of the oldest buildings in Pennsylvania. More than a landmark, Sellers Hall highlights the value of local history and the challenges of translating that value to the community. Our tour will explore the relationship between architectural preservation and community development.

  • Walk will begin and end at 69th Street Transportation Center

  1. Eye-opening look at the deep history and broad culture of an area many people know only from dashing through the transportation center.
