This walk will highlight the ongoing volunteer led efforts and challenges associated with restoring and improving the tree canopy of a commercial corridor in the midst of reconstruction after decades of disinvestment, due to redlining and the threat of the Crosstown Expressway that would have wiped out our neighborhood serving corridor.

Appropriately, we will conclude the tour at The PHS PopUp Garden (1438 South St)!

Walk notes:

  • Accessibility considerations: Busy sidewalks. Pretty good curb cuts but not the newest ADA compliant grading (yet).
  • Short (< 1/2 mile) walk.
  • Bicycles welcome. Dogs welcome.
